Sharpen the Saw

With no rally or other seminars scheduled until November I figured this was a good time to 'Sharpen the Saw.' Both on our speaking skills and on our tutorial videos.

Both Jim and I attended Toastmaster's club for many years before we hit the road. It felt good to go back there this morning, and I gave a speech. I was happy to know I hadn't forgotten how to do it ... I got the best speaker award :-)

From Geeks on Tour blog 200810
As for the tutorial videos, I decided it was time to upgrade to the industry standard software for screencast videos ... Camtasia. I've been learning how to use it and I made my first Camtasia video for my blog post on RV.net today. The main thing I wanted was the ability to zoom in and out on specific parts of the screen. This allows me to keep the video file smaller, but still allow you to see the small pieces. I'm pretty happy with the result.

I went to RV.net and watched the video. For some reason the window I was watching it in was to small and I missed some of your movements and the boxes you clicked on. They seemed to be out of the frame.

I bet Toastmaster’s were glad to have you back. You are a very accomplished speaker with a very special gift. You make learning a pleasure. Congrats!!!

Marilyn, I also noticed the 'cut-off' nature of the video posted on RV.net. Apparently, the RV.net blog editors changed the size of the video placeholder so it would fit in the left column. I want back and redid the video to match their desired size. It should look OK now ... just pretty small!
