Girls' Weekend

One of the reasons we've tarried this long in the Las Vegas area is that my old friend Melinda made arrangements to fly in for this coming weekend. In years past we've been known to fly to one coast or the other in order to go to a seminar together, spend a week at a spa in Napa, or just visit each other at home for a few days. I figured if she could manage to fly into Vegas, I could certainly manage to hang around a few extra days and meet her. She made reservations at the Luxor hotel ... in the Pyramid section! I hope to get a massage ... soak in a jacuzzi ... drink at the fancy bar ... get room service. And, spend hours and hours just talking. Jim and Odie will stay in the motorhome just a couple miles away. Byeeee

Safari Class C

Safari is known for making top-of-the-line class A motorcoaches. Many people believe that Safari simply does not make a Class C. But, we know different because we have one! A 1998 Safari Class C motorhome. What we learned this past week is that they made not just one (ours) but at least two! Here's proof! And, the other one is even smaller than ours. Ours is 30 feet long. His is 24. Now, lest you start thinking that we're in a Big motorhome, take a look at our current site here in Las Vegas. We're just a baby!

Our Seminars

This really is what we love doing best - giving seminars. And what a great, cozy spot we had too. We had the luxury of some extra time while at Terribles Lakeside RV Park, so we offered four different seminars. And, what a great opportunity this is to meet people! Along with our presentation, audience questions, demonstrations, and hands-on. We also have a 2-page handout with each seminar. I'm going to post these here for anyone who may be interested. I'm not sure how much sense they'll make without all the presentation that goes on around them, but anyone who wants them (for personal use only please) is welcome. Jim was sick early in the week. We thought for sure it was something he ate because he was violently ill for 4-6 hours and then in agony for another day and a half. I was patting myself on the back for having such a strong constitution as to avoid this illness - or maybe just the good luck to not eat what he did. Wrong. It must have been some kind of 24-48 hour flu bug because it hit me Friday afternoon. And, when I say 'hit' I don't mean like a tap on the shoulder. It was more like a sledgehammer that put me out ... dead to the world ... until just about an hour ago. Jim had to do 2 seminars yesterday all by himself. Sorry Jim. Or maybe it was my punishment for telling lies?! Just in case you haven't figured it out - that April 1 post was not true ... darn! Anyway, I'm glad that we were settled in such a nice spot - here in Terribles Lakeside RV Park. We've been in the desert so long, all this grass is a real treat. Pahrump is still in the desert, but apparently there is a huge aquifer up here. In fact, the name 'Pahrump' comes from the paiute words for Rock and Water. And, in case you've wondered, 'Terribles' comes from the history of the owner Ed 'Terrible' Herbst. Other business owners thought it was just 'Terrible' how he could offer more for less and make them look bad. Odie likes the grass too. I think I'm going back to bed now. I may be alive, but not very lively.

Wow! Who knew?! You really can win big in Las Vegas! My Dad sent me an email that said - Craps ... that's the game to play. The big money is in Craps. Well, I know nothing about craps, but I remember a movie where somebody put all the money they had on the 'Pass' or 'Don't Pass' line. Ok, I can try that. We only had about an hour on 'The Strip'. But that was enough time to find the Craps table at some casino. We cashed a check for everything in our savings account, put it on 'Don't Pass', closed our eyes, held our breath, and waited. ... ... ... The winners! It really was true. More money than we've ever dreamed of! All those times we played 'What would you do if you won the lottery?' paid off. We knew just what we wanted to do. We love the RVing lifestyle, but we miss our scuba diving. So, we went and bought ourselves one of those COOL new amphibious RVs. And, it's got a great dive platform!
